In February 2017, Andrey Khurri started as Product Manager of Fortum Charge and Drive, the leading electric vehicle charge point operator and eMobility service provider in the Nordics. Fortum is a pioneer at renewable energies and offers a wide variety of interesting positions for top talents.
Andrey came to Finland a decade ago to work as a researcher at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology. "I worked in projects related to Internet architecture, networking protocols, IP security and mobility. During that time I earned my doctoral degree at Aalto University in 2011. The work of a researcher was interesting, but eventually I turned my head towards business as I wanted to see results of my work to be more applicable to real life”, he said.
Before Fortum, Andrey worked in a digital consulting company where he became acquainted with versatile companies from several industries such as telecom, transport, healthcare, industrial machines and device manufacturing. “The most rewarding was to work with companies of different scale, profile, needs and try to help solve their problems."
Started as a project manager, gradually Andrey was offered other responsibilities and got involved in sales and account management, as well as operations of the company's Helsinki branch. "My role was quite comprehensive in the end. The company was pretty international. Not big, but with a global exposure, serving many famous companies in the world.”
"What I especially like in Fortum is the opportunity to constantly learn from my colleagues – top-notch professionals with very diverse and broad experience."
"It was an exciting journey, however after six years, I felt I had reached my limits in that environment and started to look for new challenges. That’s how I ended up in Fortum. While in my previous workplace we were helping others create parts of their products, here we are creating the entire product ourselves. The scope and responsibility is much wider, so you need to have a very comprehensive understanding of many aspects.”
Born as an internal startup several years ago, Fortum Charge & Drive today employs about 40 persons in the Nordics and India. “We are still a relatively small unit inside a large corporation, but this is a perfect combination: fast-paced learning and development environment supported by a solid backbone and resources of the parent company.”
Fortum Charge & Drive is the leading EMP (eMobility Service Provider) and CPO (Charge Point Operator) in the Nordics, and a leading provider of white-label SaaS (Software as a Service) solution for international businesses. The cloud-based architecture enables flexible, scalable, pay-as-you- grow models within business and consumer applications. “My role is to develop our product and services portfolio further by analyzing industry trends, evolving market needs, changing consumer behavior, business requirements, regulations – to understand how we need our offering to respond”, Andrey adds. "What I especially like in Fortum is the opportunity to constantly learn from my colleagues – top-notch professionals with very diverse and broad experience."
In the ongoing rapid proliferation of electric cars, Fortum Charge & Drive is getting more and more attention, and of course competition as well. To stay on the cutting edge, Fortum is looking for top talents to ensure their position among the key players in eMobility. “We are constantly searching for Data Scientists, Business Analysts, Product and Services Specialists, Software and Hardware Experts, people who understand how data, art and engineering can be used in the creation of best user experiences and meaningful products and services making lives easier.”
”Up to this point, we’ve been able to manage our tasks with the personnel we have. However, with the growing demand, sales volume and number of customers we certainly need more people to join our fantastic multicultural team”, Andrey concludes.
Fortum is a leading clean energy company which provides its customers with electricity, heating and cooling as well as smart solutions to improve resource efficiency. We want to engage our customers and society to join the change for a cleaner world. We employ some 9000 professionals in the Nordic and the Baltic countries, Russia, Poland and India. 62% of our electricity generation is CO2 free. In 2016, our sales were EUR 3.6 billion. Fortum's share is listed on Nasdaq Helsinki.
